Summer is here and I am loving every bit of it. Except for that excruciatingly hot sun! I’ve shared about the importance of protecting your skin during the summer, but what about your hair? We really put our hair through the ringer. It gets hit with the UVA/UVB rays, chlorine, hair straightener, blowdryer, products, and the list goes on and on. All of which can leave your hair brittle and prone to easy breakage. Today I’m sharing my top 4 tips for protecting your beautiful locks all summer!
TIP #1
WEAR A HAT
There are so many cute hat options right now that it should be pretty easy to find one that ties into your look. Not only will you look amazing but this will protect your hair from the sun beating down on it and drying it out at the same time. Take a look at the hats I’ve linked to top off your summer look.
TIP #2
LEAVE IN CONDITIONER
Before drenching your hair in harsh chlorine, coat your hair with a good leave in conditioner. This will add a layer of protection and help to keep it hydrated. Here are some amazing leave in conditioners.
TIP #3
SKIP THE HEAT
Any time you have the chance, skip the heat! You can opt for a ponytail, high bun or braid, or simply air dry your hair and let it be. Check out these adorable hair accessories to keep your look chic while going natural!
TIP #4
APPLY AN OVERNIGHT MASK
I’m a huge fan of using natural products whenever possible and I have the best one for you! COCONUT OIL! I use this gem for everything. From removing my makeup and moisturizing my skin, to repairing my hair, coconut oil is a game changer. Apply an unrefined, extra virgin organic coconut oil to your hair at night and leave it on while sleeping. After saturating your hair you can braid it, put it in a bun, or put a hand towel on your pillow and sleep on it (to prevent staining your pillow case) and voila. Wash your hair as you usually would in the morning and your hair will be quenched! I haven’t tried this coconut oil hair mask packet yet, but it looks quite promising!
Happy 4th of July ladies! Have a wonderful, safe day and I’ll see you back here soon! XO
Love Always,
Kimberly
