Hi kandidlykim fam! I’ve missed you all and I’ve missed posting regularly. To be honest, I had intentions of being consistent on here this year but I’ve had a lot of challenging things come my way. I won’t bore you with the details, I’m just so happy to be taking advantage of this creative space once again and filling up this blank white screen with my words and thoughts!
We are all going through an adjustment period now that we have had an element of our freedom taken away from us. Our kids are staying home from school, work has changed and so much more. One of the many questions that has been on my mind is, when do I get to go on a date with my hubby again? Well, it doesn’t look like anytime soon. I wanted to share some ways to still have that special bonding time with your significant other and keep that spark alive! It’s super important to not let the stress get the best of us and to still nurture our relationships as much as possible. I hope these simple ideas help keep the fire lit while we are all on lockdown!
TAKE OUT IN
Many restaurants are allowing takeout food to be ordered and here in LA they are actually allowing alcoholic beverages to be taken to go too! So idea #1 is to order a nice dinner and drink and take it home. It can still be totally romantic and you can even set up an indoor picnic in your home on the floor and make it super sweet!
IS YOUR LOVE LANGUAGE TOUCH?
Put on some soft music and exchange foot or back massages. Nothing sparks that chemistry and shows appreciation to your partner like your warm touch.
CHEERS!
Go online and find some fun drink recipes or pour a glass of wine and have a romantic evening talking and reconnecting on the porch/ in the yard. It’s a great way to focus one on one with each other and have some uninterrupted time.
BATHTIME
Slip into a nice hot, relaxing bath with each other (and a glass of wine never hurts 😉). Put on some nice music and light some candles. You can dim the lights or turn them out and just enjoy each other’s company and the flicker from the candles. This is a really peaceful way to unwind together.
MOVIE NIGHT
Once the kids are in bed (or dogs or cats) grab some popcorn, candy, a warm blanket and snuggle. Find something to watch that you both want to see. If emotions have been tense, a funny movie can help lighten the mood, or perhaps you need to totally escape into a thriller. Either way, you’ll be able to have fun together without leaving the house, or couch!
If you really want to impress your partner, you can make some chocolate covered strawberries. They are so simple, I make them with my 5 year old. It’s a super easy way to kick it up a notch. 💋
I hope you all stay healthy and happy! XO
Love Always,
Kimberly
