How to get a Killer Workout from Home!

Hello ladies!!!  Now that warmer weather and bikini season are upon us, it’s time to step up the workout game and get back into the gym!  Since Benjamin broke his leg and has been home from school for several weeks, my routine has gotten so interrupted and I haven’t been working out like I should.

It’s so good for our minds and bodies to exercise and it helps relieve a lot of stress and anxiety.  I don’t like going to the actual gym, nor do I have time for that, so I incorporate all of my workouts from the comfort of my home.  From what to wear, to what you will need for a great at home workout, here’s the round up of some of my faves!

What to Wear:

I truly believe that looking the part helps me act the part.  Even though I’m working out at home, I still put on the exercise uniform and shoes and it totally switches me into fitness mode.  Lorna Jane is my favorite athleisure company for fashionable sports bras, so I just picked up a couple of new ones that are adorable and have spring written all over them!  This leopard one is super fun.  I also picked up this sexy twist front mauve sports bra. They’re very supportive and really pretty.

This sports bra from Forever 21 has the prettiest neckline and it’s under $15!  They have several adorable options and their prices are always awesome!

These tights are really comfortable and they hold everything right in place.  For a more affordable look, these are really cute!

I have a ton of gym shoes, but this pair in all black is my favorite!  They’re so comfy that I’m considering getting them in the light pink also.

What to Use:

Now onto the equipment!  If you don’t already have an exercise ball,  perhaps you should consider getting one.  You can use them for stretching, yoga, and abs, amongst many other things.  If you’re like me and don’t have the best balance, it’s a really great lower body exercise just trying to stay on!

I once heard Adriana Lima saying that she jumps rope all the time, so you bet I picked one up immediately!  I use this one.  Somehow I still don’t look like her though… hmmmm 😉

These weights are very comfortable in my hands and I have them in several different sizes.  The lighter ones are perfect to use while riding the stationary bike.

For a killer butt and leg routine these steps are awesome!

This kettlebell is really wonderful.  A friend of mine told me to pick one up and I get so much use out of it!  If you need help with incorporating these into your fitness regimen, there are a lot of really great tutorials on YouTube.

I focus a lot on my abs, especially after becoming a mom.  I like to lie flat on my back, do bicycle legs and abs from side to side, and hold this medicine ball.   6 lbs. is heavy enough for me to really feel a good burn in my abdominal muscles.

I like to use resistance bands like these for my lower body.

This yoga mat is a must!  It’s durable, thick, and to be honest, I just love lululemon’s quality!  I’ve taken mine all over the place for several years and it’s still in great shape.  Sun, wet grass, you name it!  As for an affordable option, I am really into this this one too!

Check out this cell phone holder for your stationary bike.  I finally got one and attached it to my bike while I do my Peloton classes from my phone.  I’ve always tried to prop the phone up awkwardly just to have it continuously fall off onto the floor.  My life is soooo much easier now and it’s under $10!  Working out is challenging enough as it is, so I’ll take anything that simplifies it.

Where to Begin:

I recently downloaded the Peloton app on my phone and I use that for my stationary bike riding.  There are several different trainers, programs and levels you can choose from and I am totally hooked!  The results speak for themselves!

Ultimate Body by BodyBoss is my most used fitness guide.  It’s a 12 week exercise program with no gym required and it kicks my butt HARD!

As I mentioned above, Youtube has so many awesome quick workout tutorials.  If you see an exercise in the BodyBoss book but don’t know how to physically do it, you can always YouTube it!  It’s also great for searching new workout videos if you feel that you need to switch it up, and the best part is that YouTube is free!

Fun Tips:

Remember to take progress photos so you can look back and see your hard work paying off!  It’ll give you a major boost and push you to keep it up!  Also, a fun way to incorporate a workout is in incriments. When the TV is on, I will exercise during commercial breaks.  I’ll do jumping jacks, planks, sit ups and so on.  By the end of a show, I’ve gotten in a great little workout and it doesn’t even feel like it!

Thanks for reading this long winded post ladies!  Good luck in your fitness endeavors!

Love Always,

Kimberly
