My Current Night Time Skincare Ritual For Bright & Clear Skin

Keeping my skin in tip top shape is very important to me.  Our face is what we present to the world every day.  Especially now that I’m working out hard on a daily basis and sweating a ton, I have to make sure I carve out the time to take proper care of my skin.

One of my favorite ways to decompress at night is to cleanse my skin and apply face masks.  Its actually fun for me and I really value the alone time and taking care of myself.  I’m constantly changing my routines and testing out new products to see how my skin responds, so I love sharing what’s currently working for me!  Here’s a step by step of my current night time skin care routine that will keep your skin clear and bright!

STEP 1 – REMOVE MAKEUP

I wear waterproof eyeliner and mascara, so I use coconut oil to remove my eye makeup.  The oil really breaks down the makeup and removes it better than anything I’ve tried.  Coconut oil also doesn’t irritate my eyes and other makeup removers do.  This has been my ride or die for 18 years now!  That makes me feel old… I’ve used it since I was 15!  You can wipe the coconut oil away with a wash cloth, or with a Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipe.  I have been using the wipe lately with the coconut oil because the wipes are so soft on the delicate skin on my eyes.

*If you get lash extensions do NOT use coconut oil or any oily makeup removers on your eyes.  It will break up the glue and they’ll fall right off.

STEP 2 – CLEANSE

At night I use the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser.  It’s so gentle and makes my skin feel like butter!  I wash my face with it twice, just to ensure that all of the makeup has been removed.  I use a wash cloth to gently exfoliate and massage the soap on my face.  I think the wash cloth has a lot to do with how smooth my skin has been lately.  They’re slightly abrasive and really scrub the dead skin cells off.

STEP 3 – MASK TIME!

You can always skip this step, of course, and go straight to the next if you’re not in the mood for a mask.

TO BRIGHTEN- As for brightening masks, I’ve been using the Generation Clay Ultraviolet Brightening Purple Clay Mask.  Wow, that’s a mouthful!  This one is newer in my routine, I’ve been using it for a month or so and I’m really enjoying it.  It refines, brightens, illuminates, and nurtures your skin and I’m all for it!  I’m definitely going to keep this mask around.

FOR BLEMISHES- I apply Origins Clear Improvement.  This is an active charcoal mask that clears your pores and I really love it.  My tube is on empty and I’m definitely replacing this one!

TO HYDRATE- No matter which mask I am using, I will put it low enough on my face that I can always apply Summer Fridays Jet Lag Face Mask on my under eyes.  This skin is so delicate and you really want to hydrate it and treat it like baby skin.  I apply it like a mask to the back of my hands also, because I have such dry skin from washing my hands so much.  (Germaphobe here!)

Rinse your mask away and begin with step #4.

STEP 4- TONE

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I use Thayer’s Lavender Witch Hazel Spray to tone my face at night, (in the morning I use the rose scent).  I wave that dry and it feels so refreshing and prepares my skin for the next step.

STEP 5- BRIGHTEN!

I get brown spots on my face from the sun so I’m all about using brightening products.  I’ve been a long time fan of Caudalie’s Vinoperfect Brightening Serum.  It brightens my skin with a more gentle formula, and makes my skin feel so smooth!  I will be using this for many years to come!

STEP 6- HYDRATE

Last but absolutely not least, is hydrating your skin.  This seals the deal and completes my night time beauty ritual.  I have been using the Fresh-Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream and I’m really happy with it.  I enjoy the scent, and my skin has responded very well to it.  I rub the cream between my hands and pat and press the cream into my skin and of course to my neck.  I don’t apply the drying face masks to my neck but I apply the toner, brightening serum and hydrating creams to my neck.

What’s your night time beauty ritual?  Share it in the comments below!  Thank you for reading along!  XO

Love Always,

Kimberly
